He took the saying "go out and make some friends" a little bit too literally.
Taught in the schools of dark creational magic, he creates magical objects and undead helper with ease.
When his love died, he swore to become the greatest necromancer that ever lived to bring her back, just to find out that she might be the only person he could never bring back.
After this realization and his disappointment he started wandering, looking for a new meaning in life.
He stumbled across a small burning Village that was attacked by an evil sorcerer. He rose the dead villages as his army and stormed the evil sorcerers tower, killing the mage and talking the tower as his new home and base of operations.
The magical belongings of the evil wizard made him even more powerful and gave him years of study ahead. He "creates" lots of little hamsters as his helpers. They sorting stuff in shelves, searching the vast libraries of the wizard, doing chores for him, even being his eyes and ears within and outside the tower.
The now undead Villigers however started to rebuild their homes and "living" there since, giving Bison a place of trade with "the outer world" and a source of information whats going on in the world without having to participate in it. The Villagers usually hide their faces and body parts that don't look so alive anymore from visitors with long black robes.
Visitors usually just find a nice village with a bit strange but friendly inhabitants, but can't point their fingers on whats off with this town. An experienced adventurer might see through whats going on, the amount of cute little hamsters roaming the village is also a bit of a give away for the trained eye that something is off.
While living in his tower alone and being disappointed by society, Bison would never refuse to help someone in trouble who would ask for it.
